That Look in your eyes- Intro
I resisted writing this blog for five years. The first two years I resisted were because I didn’t believe the world wanted to hear from little old me. The past 3 years were the hardest years in my life to this point. I felt I was just surviving, and couldn’t possibly write a book about how God sees us when I was wrestling with how I saw Him affecting or not affecting my life in my biggest need. Then one day I was talking to Him while driving ( good thing talking to God is hands free!). I was asking Him to direct me, show me how to climb out of this pit of failure I was in, and three words came to me- Start the blog. That was it. I’m close to losing everything I’ve worked for, looking for but not finding additional income to support my family, months away from serious financial decisions, and what I hear is “ Start the blog”.
I dedicated many evenings after work to the task of making clear the mission God gave to me. When I asked Him what I should write, He impressed on me to write a blog about how He sees us, and what is on His heart when He looks at us. That led to many topics about seeing, being seen, looking, and being looked at. The result is a message many of us need from the One who sees it all, and still chooses to love, care, embrace, and pursue His beloved creation.
Many people have forgotten who they are, and whose they are. Spanning across many religions and continents is the desperate desire to experience God personally, not just through religious experiences, but face to face, the way God always intended. People act the way they believe, and this current culture is ruled by unchecked beliefs that lead us to our own truths, created in our own image, leading to a seemingly powerful independence that leaves many seekers with regret, second thoughts and a desire for a second chance. God is all about second chances. He is the one who declared that His mercies are new every morning, waiting to be embraced and empowered by the God of second chances.
This is a blog about looking, seeing, and being seen. We live in a visual world, with thousands of visual messages coming at us everyday. How we process those messages, and how they affect us mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually is what this blog is about. I am not an expert in anything, other than my personal experiences in this world. My goal is to share, from my personal, biased biblical perspective, what God has to say about the world we see around us, and How He sees us. I invite you to participate, sharing your journey with me as you read about my journey to know God better.
As I did a quick reference study on words like see, look, and seen, I was encouraged by the large amount of biblical verses dedicated to the visual world around us. I will use some of these verses to back up my personal experiences of seeing and being seen. God sees you, and He likes, no He LOVES what He sees! You are precious in his sight, and He never takes His eyes off of you. His intent is to have a personal, 24/7/365 face to face relationship with you, closer than you will ever have with a person. He wants to clear up your vision so you see your world through His eyes, and understand what Life is really all about. Enjoy the journey, and keep your eyes open!
